A few weeks ago I wrote to the Gazette following the outsourcing, or privatising of our physiotherapy services by our Clinical Commissioning Group:
The people of Dacorum must wonder what is happening to their health care services. Having received a complaint about our outsourced or ‘sold off’ physiotherapy service I went to have a look myself and frankly could not believe what I found. A room with minimal equipment (one bike, one bench and a weight machine) open and in full view of the waiting area and reception! This means you have an audience when having your treatment, no privacy or dignity with this service. Remember the fully equipped gym at the hospital with an army of dedicated physiotherapists? Gone I am afraid. This is the consequence of no money for the NHS and an ideology that privatises our health service bit by bit. It isn’t difficult to see from my visit how they are going to make a tidy profit from their buy.As always the staff were not the subject of the complaint. They were praised and appreciated by the complainant but one wonders at the state of their morale having been transferred to this private company.Anyone hear our council making their voice heard? No, of course not, from a council who sold off our leisure services to the dismay of many Dacorum residents. Time for change.
Since writing this letter I admit I haven’t visited again to check for improvements but I have visited their website for Hemel which invites
reviews….so many one stars and complaints from people who have been sent to this service…only 2 x 5 star anonymous reviews crept it up to 2.5
overall. Our NHS is worth fighting for and only a Labour Government will do that for all of us.
