UPDATE ON RECENT SURVEYS

NEW_Volunteers_Hands_3.jpg

As you'll know we have recently run two surveys of members, seeking to understand what you want from your local Party, what help you can and wish to offer to support local activities, and also what relevant skills and experience you have.

Nearly 70 of you replied with a great deal of useful information and clear indications of your expectations from your local Party.  We have had many offers from willing deliverers of leaflets, staffers of stalls, canvassers and helpers to organise fund raising and social activities.  Still more wish to attend training and policy discussion meetings, and particularly like the idea of guest speakers.  And of course many will be supporting the all important fund-raising/social events.  Others wish to continue the fight against the self-serving and damaging anti-social policies of the Tories nationally, and the lack of action on local issues from MP Mike Penning, by producing leaflets, policy statements, letters to the press and our MP, as well as covering the important political issues of the moment on blogs on our web site www.hemellabour.org.uk - please log-in and check!

As to skills, it is of great encouragement to know that so many members have considerable expertise in very relevant areas, including a previous Election Agent, Councilors, Executive Committee Members for Labour, election day workers, event organisers, proof reader and entertainers, and still more who are willing to stand for election and serve on working groups. There is also excellent experience across many sectors, such as Health and Social Care, Schools, Higher Education, Finance, Charities and Housing, as well as business.  So many of these will be useful as we move towards the upcoming local elections in four and half years time - thank you all!  We will be developing further commentaries on local and national issues via social media - we see this as being particularly important as we continue further recruitment drives, particularly amongst younger voters (remember 14 year olds will be voters at the next General Election!).

We will do our very best to involve all the volunteers in future activities and meet members' expectations over the coming months, in fact a number training and political discussions are already planned - see current and future emails for details.  And if you missed the surveys, it not too late to join in, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
