Police cuts to credit cuts - welcome to Hemel 2015

Our local MP has been forced to make a humiliating apology to the House of Commons after cuts which would have led to the loss of 22,200 police officer across the UK were abandoned. In his speech he chose to blame civil servants despite being on the record saying that the cuts were working and "what matters is how officers and staff are deployed, not how many of them there are in total".

Is this the same Mike Penning whose website says he is “furious" at plans, by the Chief Constable of Hertfordshire to reduce the number of vehicles in the Herts vehicle fleet by 30%?

It’s not been a good couple of weeks for Mr Penning. During the police funding fiasco he also voted to cap working tax credits which will push 7,200 Hemel families just over the breadline and into poverty. He then voted to keep VAT on women’s sanitary towels because they are considered luxury items. Try telling that to a young working mum who has just been told that she’s about to lose £1,300 in benefits.

The thing that makes me angry is that Mike didn’t mention any of this during the husting meetings in the run up to the elections in May. His boss, David Cameron, actually said on the telly that he wouldn’t cut working tax credits. Would the real Mike Penning please stand up?
