For everyone who has worried about a private care company - paid out of YOUR council taxes - looking after their elderly mums and dads;
For everyone who has tried to contact yet another outsourced, outreached service at their local council when things go wrong. Even something so simple as your bins not being collected;
And for anyone living in what is left of social housing - worried about a repeat of the Grenfell Tower disaster because building work and checks which used to be done years ago directly by council staff is now outsourced to private companies who then allegedly cut corners which end up costing lives;
There is finally hope.
For Andrew Gwynne - shadow secretary of state for communities and local government - announced on the opening day of the Labour Party conference that there would be a renaissance of council services under a Labour Government.
He said: "There will be a Bill to rebuild our local services. greater power to deliver services themselves. Transparency. Then we known where our money is going.
"We want to empower communities and rebuild local services. They are OUR services and we should always put people first. It will be a renaissance of local government."
