Live from Brighton - funding campaigning

Diana Holland - national treasurer for the Labour Party - has pledged to help more constituencies meet the cost of campaigning at elections.

Many CLP delegates spoke on the platform today about increased funding to be given to marginal seats to help get the Tories out.

As Hemel Hempstead CLP knows Mike Penning was helped this summer ahead of the General Election by £35,000 from one donor alone.

Holland, who revealed the Labour Party is NOT in debt, said: "We've heard the message and will look at the finances.

"What constitutes a marginal seat and a winnable seat has changed after the General Election and that debate continues. We have to look at the possibility of Labour winning more seats."

She also pointed out that extra funding was available for diversity projects and special initiatives.
