Les Taber

It is with great sadness that we must announce the death of Les Taber at 97.  Les, and his wife Una, were active members of Hemel Hempstead Labour Party for many decades and Les was a borough councillor  serving as leader of the Labour group at Dacorum and was our first Labour Mayor in 1995.  He was made an honorary alderman when he retired from the council.

Although he wasn’t able to get out so much in later years Les was a prodigious contributor to the letters page of the Gazette holding the Conservatives to account as well as shining a little light with his wry sense of humour and talent for poetry.

Our thoughts are with Una and the family at this difficult time and we would like to record our heartfelt thanks for the leadership Les showed us over many years.

The funeral will be at 2pm on Monday 24th April at St Barnabas church, The Queen’s Square, Adeyfield.
