Councillor Anne Fisher - Keeping YOU informed
Report on Dacorum Borough Council 10/02/2016
Dacorum Borough Council is currently going through the budget review cycle with all of the Scrutiny Committees to scrutinise proposals which fall within their remit.
I am currently a member of the Strategic Planning and Environment Scrutiny Committee. The budget contains no major policy changes in this field. Increases in fees and charges vary from service to service apparently dependent on what the specific market would bare. Dacorum Council is increasing its precept by 1.99%, which is the maximum increase that is permitted without automatically triggering a referendum which would need to be approved by the electorate of Dacorum.
A recent meeting considered the Two Waters Regeneration Framework, this envisages the redevelopment and regeneration within the area, whilst retaining and respecting the integrity of the open spaces. Its existence should make it easier to reject unsuitable developments in the area.
I am also a member of the Development Control Committee which meets every three to four weeks. Most of the business of the Development Control Committee is routine and politically uncontroversial. As a member of Development Control Committee I cannot directly campaign or comment on specific applications, if I wish to serve and assist in making planning decisions with the area of Dacorum. Before Christmas an application was approved for retail units in the former Lucas Aerospace Site.
The Council Meeting of January the 20th attracted a lot of questions from the public about the Local Plan, mainly about the allocation and location of land for Gypsy Traveler sites.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you wish to comment on any topics raised at the council meeting. We value you're views and want to hear from you.
